Blast from the Past: Dr. Fad

Remember those Wacky Wallwalkers that were sticky and looked like an octopus? You could throw them against the wall and watch them "walk" down the wall. It was more like a tumble, but whatever. Well, we have Ken Hakuta, aka Dr. Fad, to thank for those rascles.

Dr. Fad hosted this game show called "Dr. Fad" (so orginal) for budding scientists and inventors. Dr. Fad would give the kids a challenge to overcome a task. Then the kids would have to come up with a solution. The solutions were judged on originiality, effectiveness and fun.

My brother and I watched this show to mostly make fun of it. We had a ton of those Wacky Wallwalkers and those were always cool, but the show was pretty lame. It had a hysterical theme song, too, with an early 90's electronic sound to it.

R.I.P. June Pointer with Ear Candy Bonus: The Pointer Sisters - "Fire"

June Pointer, who found early fame with her sister-group, The Pointer Sisters, and recent fame due to her drug problems, passed away last week of cancer. She was 52.

I must say, I dug a lot of the music she did with her sisters. I have a few of their hits on vinyl and my favorite is Fire. Here it is for your listening pleasure.

Leif was made for dancin', but the spring has gone out of step. Now he just looks scary and sad.
