Blast from the Past: Solid Gold - Putting Rhythm in my Soul

I am still reeling over the cancellation of Solid Gold, the hottest pop music show in syndication from 1980-1988. There were so many good performances and here are just a few highlights.

Little River Band - "Lonsome Loser"

Irene Cara - "Fame"

Boy George & Dionne Warwick - "Say A Little Prayer"

And who can forget the Solid Gold Dancers, a slick bunch of booty-shakers that shimmied to the hits of the day.

Check out this Top 10 countdown. The songs are just awesome. In fact the clip goes beyond awesomeness. Talk about a blast from the past. All I have to say is Starship, Jan Hammer and Tears for Fears. It must be seen and heard to be believed. Holla.

My favorite dancer was Darcel Wynne, with her long, luxorious hair and come-hither stares.

And guess what? Darcel was a dancer in one of my favorite movies of all time, Xanadu. So put that in your booty and shake it.
